Super Senior Pennant Update

All the Breakers Team following the last group up the 18th The team played last Monday at Wyong Golf Club against Koowindah Waters in extremely cold conditions,  The first out were Peter and Wayne, at the beginning Wayne thought he had struck a gun loosing the first 2 holes but Wayne held his nerve overcoming his opponent winning 4&3. Pete battled all the way to the 18th hole finally winning 1up after a tense battle all day (I think he just wanted to get his monies worth)  Dieter & John Roche were next up, John playing his first pennants game he was nervous but played well only going down by 1 and Dieter was his dogged best winning 1up. ( Did he talk his opponent out of it) Glen & Mal Glen played really well controlling the ball extremely well in the near gale force winds, all his years at The Lakes paid off winning 4&3,  Mal Smith returning from Knee surgery played well but couldn't overcome his opponent going down 3&2, Next out were our final group Eddie &am

Last Monday Breakers hosted Shelley Beach, Gosford, Magenta Shores, Toukley, Wyong, & Kooindah Waters.  We had great feedback from these clubs about the condition of the greens & the course in general, some comment was made as to the par 4s being some of hardest on the coast.  Special thanks to Glen Bainbridge, Peter Searle, Eddie Stothard, Wayne Fuller, Mal Smith & Peter Crowder for their support on the day.  We look forward to our next Game @ Wyong golf club against Kooindah Waters. Good Luck to all players.  Jeff Perry asst mgr.

Opening of the New Greens After spending many days watching the development and growth of the new greens, the   20 th   July eventually arrived and we were all excited to test out the new 5 th   and 7 th   Greens and dispense with the two temporaries.   Mounties were kind enough to provide bacon and egg rolls prior to the morning tee off, thanks to Matt Farrugia for getting up early feeding the players. Mike Kelly tapping in on the 5th A 7.30 shotgun start on a   very chilly morning ,   fair play to those members who   wore shorts, some doubting their choice when the wind got up. I headed out to the 5 th   green to watch the first group putt on the new green. Somewhat of an anticlimax when Mike Kelly, third shot just short of the green, chipped up to 2 inches from the hole. He can claim the first par and then Mark Cribb sunk a 12-foot putt to claim the first 4 pointer on the new 5 th Mark Cribb, Warren Butts and Roger Macey giving the thumbs up on the new green.  The players gatherin

From the President

We celebrated the opening of our new greens on the 20th, 21st & 23rd of July, which was a great success and a huge milestone in the history of Breakers.  This project was financed by Mounties as part of their ongoing commitment to upgrade the course.  A Big Thank You to Mounties, course superintendent Wayne Hensley and his staff, and Venue Manager Matt Farrugia who served up the food on opening day. This upgrade was supported by members of the Golf Committees past and present,  and is a sign of things to come for Breakers. I hope all members will enjoy playing on our new greens. Good golfing, Glenn Bainbridge  President.
