Axeman Winner-Mark Leary

A final of the AXEMAN  shootout  held  today  Tuesday 19 th  December 2023 despite a threat of storms interrupting the proceedings. 10  very excited members tee off  at  the first with no one getting into serious trouble. Jeff Perry  w as out on course keeping an eye on the scores  and  judging  the chip offs. Michael Gerakios was the first to  be  ax ed ,   given a second chance,  having hit his drive into the trees on first, only to  finish  on the middle of the fairway.  A three putt on the first green was his undoing. Over the next  four  hole s   Stephen Graham, Stephen Deane ,  Brett  Wright, and Warrick Uzelac   were axed after a chip off. Peter Whalan, Lester Pearson, and Mark Leary were in good form and making pars to stay in the competition. The  7 th  hole caused a few problems for most of those left fighting it out. Lester Pearson found trouble on the edge of the dam (see photo), rather than take a drop he waded into the mud and managed to get his ball back on the fairway.
