A Croc on the Course

Image
Over the year s  the Breakers dress code has been challenged on a number of occasions but this takes the cake Last weekend a player was sighted on the course wearing one golf shoe and one old croc. Turns out that Don Ball was suffering Gout, and anyone that has had gout knows how painful it can be, refused to retire and give in to his playing partner and give him the pleasure of a forfeit, he somehow found an old croc and finished the round. Whats more he went on to win and took the dollar from Peter Searle who brought this story to our attention claiming that he was distracted by the croc and shouldn't of had to pay the dollar, as it put him off his game -- any excuse will do Pete

Club Championship Results

Image
Hello Gentlemen,  With the uncertainty of not knowing if we would be able to play the Club Championships over four rounds of 9 or 18 holes, it was a great relief to the match committee that we didn’t have to implement the Contingency plan and we were able to play the 4 x 18 holes.  After 4 rounds of tense golf, in varying conditions from beautiful sunny days to near gale winds, another year of the club championships has been completed and we have three new worthy champions.  There are lots of stories from the championships some good and some bad but at the end of the day once your card was given to the ladies all you could do was go and have a drink to celebrate and discuss what might have been, if only.  The A Grade Stroke  W inner was Dean Osborne with Steve Adlard second. Third place was shared by Glenn Bainbridge, Ashley Henderson and Michael Hogan.  B Grade Stroke Winner was Dieter Hajduk, second was Neal Carr and third place went to Wayne Fuller.  C Grade Stroke Winner : Paul Ha

A game with the Captain

Image
With all the Covid restrictions people can't go on cruise holidays and have dinner with the captain however on Tuesday, two members decided that as they were playing with the captain they should turn up dressed for the occasion. Steve Robinson and Andy Hoban's humour  set the tone for the round and after lots of banter around good and bad shots, putts sunk and missed, the group let the captain win on the day The moral of the story is that to be out playing golf and enjoying your mates company is what golf is really about - If you win on the day well done if not come back next week

Club Championship Update

Image
The first two rounds of the 2021 Club Championships have now been completed with some interesting scenarios starting to appear. Dean Osbourne holds a good lead in the A Grade after 2 good rounds of 71. and 74 with Michael Hogan, Steve Adlard and Glen Bainbridge making up the top 4 The B grade is is a continuation from last year with 2020 equal runners up Deiter Hajduk and Wayne Fuller in the top four Deiter Is leading on  159 with Wayne , Joel Noble and Neil Carr chasing him down This grade is close with any of the top 10 players having a chance to take the chocolates  C Grade is lead by Paul Harper  with a two round total of 170 with Adam Quale, Colin Coote and Josef Schuj chasing hard. Special mention to Dean Jennings who had a not so good round on Saturday and came back on Sunday to post one of the better scores for the day The big question is who can hold their nerve and who will come from the clouds next weekend and have a blinder. Only the golfing gods will know !!!
