Message from the CEO re Playing in Fours

Image
As you would be aware the NSW Government has eased some restrictions and they are aiming for a 70% fully vaccinated to allow the state to reopen.  With this in mind the club is still governed by the rules set by the state government and NSW health and we are still waiting on rulings which will allow us to resume our normal golf competitions and for the reopening of the club.  We have been working with Micropower to upgrade a category of membership which will allow us to return to groups of four for golf competitions inline with the changes that were introduced on the 13th September 2021.   To assist us with complying with the current restrictions and to allow the golf committee to resume 18 hole competitions we are asking those who wish to play 18 holes and in groups of four and to comply with the government guidelines to provide us with documentation that you have been fully vaccinated.  Should you have a medical exemption we ask you to provide us with documentation to support your ex

9 Hole Handicap explained

Image
There has been a fe questions from members wondering what happens to their handicap if they play the back nine or front nine twice.  How it works  When Golflink gets a 9 hole score posted, it holds that score until it gets another 9 hole score posted.  Every 9 hole score has an individual slope rating, and Golflink adjusts handicaps every time 2x9 hole scores are uploaded, even if they are weeks apart.  A  member had a 9 hole score at Shelly Beach two weeks ago and then a Breakers 9 hole score and was handicapped on the combined 18 hole score.

TEMPORARY GUR  Members, please be aware, on the right side of the 9th/18th fairway the green staff have deposited the cores from coring the greens. This is to be treated as GUR, unless your ball is in the penalty area. Nearest point of relief, no nearer the hole. Match Committee Message from the green staff.  The greens have been cored and fertilised and will be a bit soft for the next couple of weeks. This will inevitably create more pitch marks. Members please be ultra aware and repair your pitch marks and others that may have been missed.

Update from the CEO

Image
Good Morning Members, Let me start by saying a big thank you to all who have and are assisting in the pros shop during this difficult time.    I think one positive that has come out of it is that we now appreciate the efforts that the Henderson’s do for our golfing members.  Due to the large number of golfers joining the club the Board have decided to close membership for golf members and a waiting list will be put in place.  This allows those members who have been members access to their course and hopefully with the extra members we will see strong numbers continue in our weekly competitions once we get back to normal operations.  Thanks you to all the golfers who have been very supportive of the regulations.  Regards, Ken Pearson CEO

Steve to the Rescue

Image
There are a number of new mother ducks and ducklings on the course at the moment and on Saturday one family was taking an excursion from the 5th, across the 6th and onto Willoughby road  Steve Adlard spotted them and attempted to divert the family's direction from the road without success. Mother duck new exactly where she wanted to go and no matter what Steve did she headed to the road wth her family in hot pursuit. All of a sudden Steve took off and was last seen racing  through the bushes jumping the fence running onto Willoughby road to stop any cars and making sure the little family made it across to the other side.  On behalf of all the animal lovers in the club well done, but can you do something about that bloody magpie.

Handicaping Returns

Image
It's taken a few weeks to be able to link our system with Golflink for the 9 hole competitions but it has now happened. The course has now been slope rated per 9 holes thanks to Nicky.   As of Saturday the 4th September your 9 hole cards will be sent to Golflink for handicapping, after 2 consecutive cards have been submitted they will be added together to make an 18 hole card.

9 Hole Competition Review

Image
To all our Golf Members Your golf committee members  understand the desire to  return to a 4 player,  18 hole  format for competition golf at the earliest possible time.  The committee  will strive to achieve this in a way that is safe for our member s within the current health advice and in consultation with the Breakers club management and Club Professionals . The interim focus is to facilitate the maximum number of members having access to competition golf 3 days each week, whilst working within health guidelines and ensuring an adequate financial return to fund course staff and maintenance .  Several weeks ago, we saw a significant increase in golf member waiting lists ,  we were required to reduce playing groups to 2, whilst continuing with an  18 hole  format.  Being a  9 hole  course this severely restricted the number of members getting a game, with all online bookings being filled within minutes of opening. With only 70 members getting a game each day, waiting lists in the hig
