This week on the Course

Image
This week on the Course With all the changes going at Breakers due to  Covid-19 its been challenging week for everyone. After much discussion the committee decided to move to 9 hole competition in line with most clubs on the Central Coast allowing 120  members to play rather than our current limit of 78. The 9 hole competitions will start on Saturday the 7th July - Bookings open at 5pm on Friday 30th There is a lot of competition and social play going on and the course is getting beat up a bit with lots of divots not filled on both the tees and the fairways Please on your way round keep your sand bucket handy and  fill other peoples divots as well as you own. We are discussing the option of introducing a mystery partner for a couple of rounds whilst were playing 9 holes, this will allow the prize pool to go deeper Partners will be created by the computer and results will posted on the blog on the night of the competition however the singles results as normal will b...

Letter from CEO Ken Pearson

BREAKERS GOLF - 9 Hole Competition 27th July 2021 Dear Golfers, Your golfing committee had a meeting with myself and Henderson Golf to discuss the concern of members not being able to play a round of golf in competitions due to the COVID restrictions. The current restrictions only allow two players per group, resulting in the number of players being a maximum of 78 players per competition day. This has seen a large number of golf members missing out on competition rounds. The committee has now agreed to introduce 9-hole competitions on Tuesday, Saturday and Sundays, starting from the 7 th   August, with bookings opening at 5pm this Friday the 30 th   July 2021.  This will now allow 124 players for competition play. The fee for the competition will be $16, to cover green fees and prizes. Attached to this email is a sample of the booking sheet that will be used. We will conduct this format for 3 weeks, then re-assess pending on what is required under the COVID restrictions ...

9 Hole Competition Starting

Image
Members of the Breakers Mens Golf Club,  Currently due to covid restrictions we are limited to playing in competitions in pairs (2 players). In doing so we have reduced fields that limit the players playing in these competitions.  A present we have 60-65% of members able to get a game and waiting lists of around 20 players per competition.  The committee has met and has resolved to reduce our competitions to 9 holes of golf. In doing so we can cater for 124 players in each competition starting at 7am to 12.30pm.  Playing in the competition will cost $16, with $12 going green fees and the normal  $4 being divided to prizes and admin costs.  At this stage we will trial the concept from 7th of August as a 3 week test to ensure more of our members are able to access the course.  The committee will meet again to review the process and will return to 18 hole golf as soon as co...

From The Match Committee

Image
Golfers, we appear to have a problem with slow play on Saturdays.  The afternoon group are teeing off 20 minutes after their scheduled tee time which means they finish in the dark.  Golfers teeing off in the morning session must pay special attention to starting on time and making sure they keep up with the group in front.   We acknowledge the fields are at capacity. All members in the comp deserve the same or similar playing conditions.  Rather than reduce the amount of tee times, we urge all golfer's to do the right thing.  Ideally you should complete 18 holes in 4 hours or under, t his can be achieved if members tee off on time.  We also require members to pay attention to divot filling on the tees and fairways, repairing of pitch marks on the greens and make sure the rakes are placed face down well inside the bunker.  Thank you for your cooperation,   The Match Committee.

Thinking of you Lyle

Last Tuesday the course was very wet and unfortunately one of our members Lyle Anderson had a bad fall whilst coming off the 2nd Tee He tore his quadricep tendon in his knee and is in Gosford Hospital with his knee in a brace All members wish you well mate specially as due to bloody Covid you cant have any visitors. Club captain Peter Crowder is following things up with the club and we will let you know if we can get changes to the entry to the second tee
