  Breakers Melbourne Cup  Ambrose Golf Day 2026 The 2nd  Breakers Melbourne Cup Ambrose Golf Day was held on Tuesday morning under somewhat threating conditions however after a few drops of rain we all finished the home stretch in fine weather. Sixteen teams of four teed off in a shotgun start at 7:30 am — but not before enjoying a delicious bacon and egg breakfast, kindly served by  Mounties Regional Manager Matthew Farrugia . It was a colourful sight as teams made their way to their respective tees. The format was drop-out Ambrose : the player whose ball was selected sat out the next shot until the group reached the green, where all players then putted until the ball was holed. There was no compulsory number of tee shots required.  The final round of the Championships was played on Sunday 25th October and what a dramatic day it was. C Grade  Darren Reeves and Matt Stone came to the last hole tied with Barry Paterson too far back it would seem.Darren took an 8,Matt a 6 but after checking the scores, it was a tie between Barry and Matt, needing a Sudden Death playoff.Barry made a 5 to clinch the title.Congratulations Barry.  B Grade Terry Owen was very consistent over the 4 rounds,but stood on the last tee 2 shots in front of Dave Coxall.Terry finished strongly to win by 3.Congratulation Terry.  A Grade  The closest finish we have ever seen at Breakers. Adam Knight and Mick Bowditch were tied on the last tee with Gavin Drennan 1 shot behind and AJ 3 shots behind. All 4 players hit poor drives with 3 in the hazard on the right,what drama!! Adam chipped out then hit his 3rd shot onto the green to make 5 and claim victory from Mick Bowditch, 22 years after his first win. Congratulations Adam ....

  2026 Breakers Golf Club Men’s Championship The Draw has now been completed for this years Men's Championship and can be seen on your member's Tee Bookings through the Mygolf app. Great News, for the Championship ONLY   the use of Drivers off the first tee has been approved.  TERRIGAL CUP 2026 A strong field of 71 players teed off in the 2026 Terrigal Cup on Sunday in ideal conditions. It was a beautiful spring day with plenty of run on the course, although some interesting pin placements soon sorted out the field!   2026 Breakers Golf Club Men’s Championship   It’s almost that time again Breakers Men’s Championship. A Stroke event and will be played over two weekends, 17 th / 18 th October, and 24 th / 25 th October 26 . This year’s format will see only the top 16 gross scores in each grade to go through to the last two rounds with the best total scores over the full four days of competition declared the winners. Grades :        A      0 – 12, B      13 – 19, C      20 – 36. The Vets event will be best total scores over two rounds 1 and 2, in conjunction with championship. All 101 club members will play from the blue and white tees.   Nomination form in the Pro Shop. Entries close 5pm on Wednesday 14 th October 26. Members who do not qualify for rounds 3 and 4, will be able to play in a separate Stableford event on 24 th / 25 th October 26 .

  MEN’S MATCH PLAY KNOCKOUT FINAL 2026 The Men’s 2026 Match Play Knockout Final was played last Tuesday between Warren “Doc” Butts and Rick Petrie in somewhat inclement weather. With both players being experienced match-play competitors and members of our Super Seniors Pennants team , the final promised to be a great contest — and it certainly lived up to expectations. Rick came out of the starting gates with gusto, winning the first hole, but Warren quickly responded by taking the second. The match remained all square until the 5th, when Warren moved 1-up. He then extended his lead to 2-up on the 6th with a birdie to take the hole. Rick fought back on the 7th, with Warren answering on the 8th. Rick then won the 9th, leaving Warren 1-up at the turn . Warren won the 10th and maintained his advantage before Rick fought back strongly to win the 15th.  EVENTS AROUND THE COAST Mangrove Mt Open is to be played on 29 August and there are a few spots in the field for any of your members interested in playing. Have them contact the Mangrove Mt Pro Shop to secure their spot in the field.   The Wyong Open Amateur is to be played on Saturday 5 September and the Wyong Seniors on Monday 28 September and attached for the information of your members is an entry form for these events. Also attached is a flyer relative to the Toukley Cup which is to be played on Monday 5 October.   The following events are also scheduled: 4 Sept           Magenta Shores Seniors 7 Sept           Kooindah Waters Seniors 13 Sept         Shelly Beach Open Amateur and Seniors Open Amateur 

  Terrigal Cup 2026 It was a pity that Terrigal Cup needed to be postponed but when the call was made at 6.00 am it was not only raining but the practice green had water on it and the ground staff were unable to complete setup/mowing /rolling of greens. " Damned if you do and damned if you don't". New date will be advised later this week. However some members stilled played, with one member claiming interim winning status and looks like he already had his winning speech prepared.  "Best on the day that should have been today.... interim champ until run again. "Never called off a British Open, so I'll claim the interim title today. I'd like to thank my sponsors and numerous supporters in the club who never doubted me despite some tough recent times.
