From the Mens Captain

I would like to take this opportunity of you all an incredibly Happy New Year and a healthy enjoyable 2024.

It is such good news we recently received from Matthew Farrugia, our venue manager. Work has commenced on the new 5th and 7thgreens. We will be playing on temporary greens for approximately 3 months.

The course slope rating has been adjusted to allow for the shorter holes. Do not be surprised if you lose a shot or two. This will cause some inconvenience to members. I do ask that all members be aware of the contractors working on the course and allow them right of way.

Matthew Farrugia has announced, with immediate effect, the course will have security patrolling the course from 5.pm to 8.pm, Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s. Golfers will be askedto show a receipt of payment. I am aware thatsome members have been reluctant to play currently at this time, due to all the free loaders clogging up the course.

Which brings me to the condition of the course. The general comments I hear is the course is looking very good with good grass on the fairways. I appreciate the fact members do assist in filling in divots made by some ofour non-caring social players and I thank you for your assistance. I would urge members to assist the green staff where possible and make an extra effort to repair pitch marks and divots where time permits.

Work has also commenced on therefurbishment of toilet block. Currently we only have one temporary Portor Looe for both men and women. Hopefully, this won’t be for too long.
