Were Back

Hi Everyone,  We finally have some good news;  From tomorrow morning will be open again as a Par 3 course as previously discussed with everyone.   Paths of travel have been marked out with yellow paint GUR areas have been marked off with white paint  Certain wet areas have been roped off with safety tape to try and keep people out Directional signs and chalk markings will also be utilised to help guide people to preferred paths of travel  We will be running 9 Hole competitions the Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, then look to increase up to 18 holes from then.   As mentioned previously, as the course begins to dry out, and other areas become playable the course will be extended, but this will need to be continuously assessed.  I will be sure to keep everyone up to date with changes.   Hopefully this is good news for everyone   Have a great Friday and weekend. Regards,  Matthew Farrugia  Venue Manager

Update from Matt Farrugia. Breakers Venue Manager

Image
Hi All, Unfortunately, we will need to keep the golf course closed over the weekend. It is still far too wet and unsafe to allow people out there.  Course superintendent Wayne and myself will conduct an inspection on Monday morning 6:30am to assess where we go from there.  We are looking at designing a shortened course which would work around the worst parts of the golf course, resulting in all par 3’s, but allowing us to be able to potentially open up the course much earlier than when we would if we have to wait for the full course to be safe and playable.  I will keep you updated with those plans as we move forward. I hope you all have a great weekend Matthew Farrugia Breakers Venue Manager

Tuesday Competition Cancelled

Golf course closed over the weekend

Image
Good afternoon Everyone,  After assessing the golf course with Wayne, we have made the decision to keep the golf course closed over the weekend and will re-assess at 630am on Monday morning.  Unfortunately, there is still a lot of ground water over multiple areas of the course, with other areas that has had the water recede, extremely soft and just too dangerous to walk or play a shot from.  The decision has been made for safety of the Members and preservation of the course.   Thank you for your understanding   Regards,   Matthew Farrugia

Challenge Cup

Image
After 2 long years the Challenge Cup returned following cancellations forced upon us by Covid.    Club teams of 3 women and 3 men, one from each grade, took to the course at Everglades looking to capture the Cup for their respective clubs.  Breakers were represented by Glenn Bainbridge and Vicky Duesbury in A Grade,  Dieter Hajduk and Jill Lavery in B Grade and Kevin Porter and Judi Eaton in C Grade After the dust settled local knowledge played an obvious part in the result with Everglades running out the winners with an aggregate stableford score of 189 pts. Breakers posted an aggregate score of 185 with Kooindah Waters a point further back.  Well done team Breakers to come second after all the interruptions due to the weather it was a great result

Events Postponed Again

Image
Due to the weather we have been forced to postpone the Creighton's Cup and the Men's Foursomes again We are trying to sort out dates so keep an eye on the blog. Decisions on the Sunday Memorial Cup and the 2nd round of the Tuesday Bill Birch will be made next week once we see how the course is holding up If the course is open we will be running a single stableford
