FATHER AND SON "PORT CUP" A select group of elite Central Coast golfers braved the elements last weekend to contest the annual Father & Son Port Cup . While some may complain about our own course conditions, they pale in comparison to the soggy fairways of Del Rio . Despite a glimpse of sunshine, gum boots were still the preferred footwear, and the greens—unmowed for weeks—were more “shaggy paddock” than “championship surface.” The fathers’ team, featuring seasoned Breakers members Bone, Whalan and Searle —all previous Port Cup champions—put up a spirited fight. However, on this occasion the younger brigade proved too strong, soundly defeating their more experienced opponents. Former regulars Leary and Ball were unavailable this year, but were quick to declare from afar that the fathers’ downfall was “inevitable” without their presence.   COURSE UPDATE Course is opened and carts are allowed with some restrictions. " MUST USE CONCRETE PATHS ON THE 3rd & 6th AND LOTS OF COMMON SENSE" From reports course is drying out however remains a soggy in our usual winter wet spots on the 3rd , 4th and 8th fairways thus the shorterned course will remain a day to day decision by ground staff. If you use the path from the third tee remember those teeing off from the 2nd tee have right away so just be careful as we don't want any injuries. Remember to collect them or lose them.

We will touch base with everyone in more detail early next week. The immediate priority now is to ensure that all scheduled games are cancelled and the much-needed tee times are made available to members and guests. On behalf of the NSW SSGA Committee,   Kind regards, Leigh Brydson Captain

After an inspection of the golf course this afternoon, I am making the difficult decision to keep the course closed for tomorrow, Tuesday 12 th August .   There is simply too much surface water still present for the course to be playable and/or safe in the majority of the areas. If tomorrow is like today, or is aligned with the forecast, then there is a high likelihood of the course reopening for Wednesday 13 th August, but that will be assessed tomorrow afternoon. Thanks for your patience and understanding, hopefully we can get everyone back out on the course very soon. Regards, Matthew Farrugia Regional Manager Central Coast Hospitality
