 BREAKERS MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP 2025




"The Mens Championship match play finals were played last Saturday in overcast conditions.First up in C grade was Garry Burke Vs Lee Naylor,the number 1 qualifier.Garry got off to a good start and hit his tee shot on the second hole to 48 cms for a tap in birdie.Lee fought back throughout the match but was unable to reel Garry in,and eventually Garry won 2 and 1.

Next up in B grade was the Old Fox Jeff Shadbolt Vs the ever consistent John Roche, an intriguing match up. John got off to his usual power fade start with Jeff showing a some early nerves for the first few holes.Jeff's putter started to warm up sinking several crucial putts as he gained momentum and took the lead.John tried to peg him back,but in the end Jeff won 3 and 2.

A grade matched Greg Swanson,a 5 time Club Champion against Steve Adlard who had never won it before.Greg went ahead early but Steve hung on through his usual up and in scrambling to keep within striking distance.Steve was 1 up playing the 17th where Greg made an excellent par to square the match.All square with 1 hole to go.Both players hit into the hazard on the right.Greg lost his ball and had to take a penalty drop,but Steve was able to chip out and finish the hole well enough for his first win 1up.

Congratulations to the six finalists on three hard fought finals played in the right spirit.A special thanks to our rules official Jeff Perry for following the matches.

2 025 SENIOR PENNANT ROUND 1RESULTS OUTSTANDING WIN FOR ‘A’ GRADE What a great start to the Senior Pennant competition. It has been a quite a few years since Breakers entered an ‘A’ Grade side  in the District Pennant. Our first match was held at Toukley GC. Conditions were great for golf and our A, B and C grade teams fired up and ready to go. Our opponents for the first match, Kooindah Waters. A grade led the way with Greg Duval, Adam Knight, Nick Merritt  (Captain), Greg Swanson, Alan Ball and Phil Carter. Most of the matches were remarkably close and Phil Carter securing a  half in his match to give the team an Historic Victory, 3 ½ to 2 ½ win. Wins for Alan Ball, Nick Merritt and Greg Swanson. ‘ B’ GRADE ‘B’ Grade had a disappointing start to their 2025 Pennants campaign,  going down 2 ½ - 1 ½. Where’s My Buggy

  Don Ball  reflecting on last Saturday afternoon, still not sure what happened, it all started after he hit a great drive on the third short of the bunker on the right just before the creek with steel trap like concertation he proceeded to hit his second shot a seven iron straight but short of the green ,  not bad he though as he went to put his club into his bag.  Bugger no bag or buggy in sight nor did his playing partners have any clue where his clubs and buggy were.  Nothing in front or behind him starting to wonder if the golfing gods were getting back at him for such a good tee  shot,  he heard a churning sound coming from the drain on the  right-hand  side of the path and there they were in the deepest murkiest part of the drain upside down with the wheels still turning Off with his shoes and socks and into the deeps of the murky drain to save his beloved clubs and after great effort he pulled and shoved them to safety.  H e then...
