          The inaugural Breakers Melbourne Cup Ambrose Golf Day was held on Tuesday morning under bright sunshine. Sixteen teams of four teed off in a shotgun start at 7:30 am — but not before enjoying a delicious bacon and egg breakfast, kindly served by Chef Glenn and Mounties Regional Manager Matthew Farrugia.

It was a colourful sight as teams made their way to their respective tees. The format was drop-out Ambrose: the player whose ball was selected sat out the next shot until the group reached the green, where all players then putted until the ball was holed. There was no compulsory number of tee shots required.

The pace of play was excellent — perhaps helped along by a few visits to the drinks cart, expertly driven by Allan Ball (thanks Allan!).

Everyone was back in the clubhouse well in time to pick their winners and losers for the Melbourne Cup, buy tickets in the sweeps, and enjoy a very tasty buffet lunch. The tables looked fantastic with their race-themed decorations — thanks to Rowena Hoolahan and Angie Bainbridge for their creative efforts.

Winners of the day were Norman Schofield, Matthew Schofield, Kenneth Fenton, and Jeoff Ashton with a great score of 54.62.
Runners-up were Darren Reeves, Nicholas Merritt, Nelson Taylor, and Warrick Uzelac with 56.12.
The Best Mixed Team went to Chris Whalan, Peter Whalan, Alison Bone, and Patrick Bone with a score of 56.5.

A big thank you to the committee and Breakers staff — especially Wayne Fuller, who put in a huge effort to get this event off the ground. Put this one in your diary for next year!

2 025 SENIOR PENNANT ROUND 1RESULTS OUTSTANDING WIN FOR ‘A’ GRADE What a great start to the Senior Pennant competition. It has been a quite a few years since Breakers entered an ‘A’ Grade side  in the District Pennant. Our first match was held at Toukley GC. Conditions were great for golf and our A, B and C grade teams fired up and ready to go. Our opponents for the first match, Kooindah Waters. A grade led the way with Greg Duval, Adam Knight, Nick Merritt  (Captain), Greg Swanson, Alan Ball and Phil Carter. Most of the matches were remarkably close and Phil Carter securing a  half in his match to give the team an Historic Victory, 3 ½ to 2 ½ win. Where’s My Buggy

  Don Ball  reflecting on last Saturday afternoon, still not sure what happened, it all started after he hit a great drive on the third short of the bunker on the right just before the creek with steel trap like concertation he proceeded to hit his second shot a seven iron straight but short of the green ,  not bad he though as he went to put his club into his bag.  Bugger no bag or buggy in sight nor did his playing partners have any clue where his clubs and buggy were.  Nothing in front or behind him starting to wonder if the golfing gods were getting back at him for such a good tee  shot,  he heard a churning sound coming from the drain on the  right-hand  side of the path and there they were in the deepest murkiest part of the drain upside down with the wheels still turning Off with his shoes and socks and into the deeps of the murky drain to save his beloved clubs and after great effort he pulled and shoved them to safety.  H e then...
