PENNANTS 5TH ROUND

Breakers Vs Mangrove Mountain at Wyong

The Breakers B and C Grade Pennant teams produced a terrific performance, both recording strong 3–1 victories in extremely trying conditions. The heat was relentless early, and both sides battled hard through the opening nine holes on foot before relief arrived in the form of carts. From that point on, the momentum clearly shifted our way.

In B Grade, Allan Hockley led the team off and was steady and composed all day, setting the tone beautifully. Scott Blackmore delivered his trademark consistency, grinding out a well-earned 1 up win. Andrew McSwan endured what could only be described as a shaken start, but once he found his rhythm he dominated proceedings to close out an impressive 5 and 4 victory. Wayne Fuller experienced an up-and-down day, but showed real determination—two down with three to play, he fought back superbly to secure a valuable half.

The C Grade side matched the effort. Nelson Taylor was in control all day and calmly secured a 2/1 win. James Cameron was locked in a tight contest that could have gone either way, eventually finishing square. Darren Reeves battled hard and famously rolled in a “50-foot” putt (closer to 10!) on the 18th to square his match. Lee Naylor showed resilience, coming from two down early to win 3/2.

A tremendous effort by both teams and a great result for Breakers
