PENNANTS 7TH ROUND:

BREAKERS Vs WYONG at GOSFORD

An early start with Tee off at 6.30am at Gosford and from all accounts the course has not held up well after all the wet.

Breakers B and C Grade teams took on a very strong Wyong outfit at Gosford, with the early 6:35am tee time making ball tracking off the tee extremely difficult in the low light. Combined with a very wet course, conditions were challenging from the outset.

First to the tee was Peter Cartledge, making his return to the pennants side after many years. Pete went down 3 & 2. In his own words, he struggled off the tee, which made scoring tough in the heavy conditions at Gosford.

Andrew McSwan faced a very consistent Wyong opponent and went down 5 & 4.

Luck just wasn't on Andrew's side today.

Allan Hockley continued his strong and consistent form this season, securing another solid win, 3 & 2.

Scotty Blackmore, playing at number one, took his match all the way to the 18th hole. The pair traded blows throughout the day, with the Wyong player eventually prevailing 2 up in a tight contest.

Alas our B Grade went down 3 to 1

However our C Grade still firmly in the hunt for pennant glory, arrived ready for a strong performance, only narrowly missing out on a clean sweep of 4 nil, had a great win of  2 1/2 to 1 1/2.

Darren Reeves led the charge and was in complete control all day, winning 3 & 2 — a performance reminiscent of a Barnbougle-style masterclass. Where i believe he won most of the prize pool with some great scores.

Playing alongside Darren, James Cameron produced a remarkable comeback. After trailing by four at one stage, he fought back to take a one-shot lead heading to the final hole. His match finished all square.

Nelson Taylor secured a determined 3 & 2 victory after a close battle throughout the day. His grit and composure proved decisive.

Jason Gouw took his match right down to the wire, narrowly going down 2 down in a tight finish. Jason's frustration with his putter was evident as he walked off the green.

This now puts them in second place just behind Kooindah Waters who they play next Sunday. Then with Kooindah Waters having a bye in the last round should produce a very exciting finish.

Well done to the boys for a hard-fought effort in tough conditions.
