C GRADE WIN AGAIN
Breakers Pennant Report – Breakers versus Kooindah Waters.
On Sunday our B and C Grade Pennant teams took on Kooindah Waters at Shelly Beach Golf Club, with some terrific golf played across both grades.
B Grade
Our B Grade team finished the day squared, 2 matches each, in a solid team effort.
Leading
the side at No.1, Allan Hockley produced another impressive performance with a
strong 3 & 2 victory. Allan has had a terrific season, winning all but one
of his matches.
Well, done Allan.
Scotty Blackmore was in his match for most of the day but unfortunately went down 4 & 3 after a tough battle.
Peter
Cartledge came out determined to get a result and did exactly that with an
excellent 4 & 3 win.
Congratulations
Peter.
You might have to pencil that one in for next year — the Shelly Beach course seems to suit you.
Andrew McSwan was up against a Kooindah Waters player who simply didn’t put a foot wrong all day. Unfortunately, Andrew couldn’t quite get the rub of the green this time. Bad luck Andrew.
Overall, a 2–2 result was a very good effort from our B Grade team.
C Grade
Going
into the day, Breakers were sitting three points behind Kooindah Waters, who
were leading on 12 points. A win against them would close the gap to just one point.
With Kooindah having the bye this week they will finish the year on 12 points
we have the opportunity to move to 13 points with a win on Sunday against
Shelly Beach at Kooindah.
C
Grade was led out by Darren Reeves, who once again delivered a solid
performance with a 3 & 2 victory. The Barnbougle form is still there!
Well, done Darren.
Next
up was James Cameron, who secured a very convincing 5 & 4 win. His
determination shone through after several all-square matches earlier in the
season.
Great result James.
Nelson Taylor faced a very tough opponent who had not been beaten all season. Nelson went down 5 & 4 but gave it everything against a very consistent player.
The final
match saw Lee Naylor taken all the way to the last hole. One up standing on the
tee, Lee unleashed a drive straight down the middle — a shot Rory McIlroy would
have been proud of.
His
opponent could only chip out from the pine tree he found just off the fairway,
sealing the match.
Lee winning 2 Up.
What a day for our C Grade team, winning 3 matches to 1.
This means that a win next week against Shelly Beach at Kooindah Waters will see our C Grade team crowned Central Coast Champions.
A magnificent effort from all the players who have represented our club this year.
It promises to be an exciting day, so if any of our golfing members would like to come along and support the team, please do. It has been fantastic to watch their efforts throughout the season.
Well,
done C Grade — whatever the result next week, you’ve already had an amazing
year. Congratulations to all involved.
